Bukas - Manor in Vidzeme, Latvia

Suddenbach, Lat. Bukas derives its name from the river/stream of the same name and initially belonged to the Teutonic Order. The first feudal lord was Wilhelm v. Harden, but then, during the Polish period of Livonia, it was confiscated and granted by King Stephen Batory to Major Thomas v. Bock in 1584. The manor remained in this

 family until 1730. After that it was the property of the v. Bruiningk, v. Gersdorff and Baron Delwig families, as well as the v. Barber family, until it was finally acquired by Erwin Baron Wolff.

Only a few manor houses in Livonia, which were rebuilt after the devastating fire raids of 1905 (architect: Otto Wildau), have survived to this day. One of them is the manor house of Suddenbach. The manor house is quite picturesquely situated on the bank of the Suda River. The restoration of the manor house has begun.

The main house has a total usable area of 1474 square meters. The first floor itself has an area of 445 sqm and consists of a reception area, several lounges, 2 halls, dining room, kitchen, checkroom, 2 bathrooms, toilets, terrace and verandas. The second floor has an area of 354 sqm and here two spacious apartments are planned. The top floor has again an area of 369 sqm and is planned for 3 apartments. In the basement/cellar a wellness area with a pool, a fitness room and a sauna is planned.

It is further planned to use the 4.5 ha large former mill pond for power generation.

The purchase price also includes all necessary furniture for the manor house - a collection of Biedermeier furniture, including chandeliers.
